IMartz verdict
Pros
- Good value: 1440p, 180 Hz, Fast IPS, Quantum Dot and Mini LED with 1152 zones at almost the same price as traditional IPS.
- Extremely high brightness in both SDR and HDR, with over 800 nits without local dimming and over 1000 nits sustained in HDR.
- Very good color, although the factory-calibrated modes may have bugs on some units depending on firmware version.
Things to consider
- Uses aggressive PWM, which may cause eye strain in sensitive users.
- Local dimming is not recommended for desktop use, because halos and zones lighting up around the cursor or bright elements are noticeable.
- Red-tint bug on some units or in some situations, without an easy firmware-update option.
A good fit if…
- Those seeking a 1440p 180 Hz monitor with real HDR without paying OLED or premium Mini LED prices.
- Games, movies and HDR content where local dimming can make a huge difference compared with a regular IPS.
- Users who want very high brightness, good color and higher contrast than traditional IPS for little money.
Consider another option if…
- You are sensitive to PWM or often notice eye strain with flickering displays.
- You do not want to keep switching local dimming on and off depending on what you are doing.
- You want a monitor without unusual bugs, with firmware updates and more predictable behavior.
