Color temperature now reaches <strong>6500 K<\/strong>, but some details still need improvement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Slightly high gamma<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RGB balance not quite on target<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fairly decent Delta E, with red straying a little<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White point could improve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DCI-P3 using Standard mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although there is no exact dedicated mode for <strong>DCI-P3<\/strong>, Standard mode also performs quite well against that gamut. It does not completely fix the same white-point and gamma issues, but factory calibration remains competent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adobe RGB mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At <strong>Adobe RGB<\/strong> requires accepting a logical limitation: since it does not cover 100% of the gamut, tuning cannot be as precise as in others. Even so, performance is good:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fairly accurate white point<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gamma somewhat high again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slightly low color temperature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RGB balance could improve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does it need calibration?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short answer is: <strong>it depends on your use<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Factory calibration is good, but not perfect. With <strong>manual calibration using a professional colorimeter<\/strong> it can be tuned much better. Adjusting color temperature in Custom mode and applying an ICC profile clearly improves post-calibration results, especially in gamuts it covers well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, if gaming is your main use, there is no need to obsess over this. In that case, the recommendation is fairly simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <strong>Standard mode<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the <strong>gamut to native<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take advantage of the panel&#8217;s extra color volume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you work with photography, video, or any task where color really matters, calibration is worthwhile. Otherwise, simply adjust the image to your taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SDR brightness, ABL, and uniformity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an OLED, contrast is the usual: <strong>practically infinite<\/strong>. Each pixel can turn off independently, so there is little mystery here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What does warrant discussion is <strong>SDR brightness<\/strong>. As with other OLEDs, behavior depends on the level of <strong>APL<\/strong>, meaning how much of the screen displays bright content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The monitor lets you change brightness-limiter behavior within its burn-in protection settings. In fact, this feature gives it the highest maximum SDR brightness of any monitor featured on the channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is that it is not always worthwhile. Although nits can rise substantially in certain areas, <strong>overall screen brightness feels dimmer<\/strong> than Middle, because it concentrates more energy in specific areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Middle mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the most balanced mode for everyday and desktop use. It maintains a more consistent and generally brighter image. For general use, <strong>Middle<\/strong> remains the best option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HDR: a good True Black 400-style mode, less refined at 1000 nits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HDR gets considerably more technical. The <strong>Low<\/strong> mode is less refined in HDR, so it is not worth using here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When APL rises to <strong>50%<\/strong>, the <strong>High<\/strong> begins to show more problems. The <strong>Middle<\/strong> mode holds up better. None surpasses Standard HDR mode in actual calibration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maximum HDR brightness at low APL, especially in High, slightly exceeds <strong>1000 nits<\/strong>. As an OLED, its response times <strong>from gray to gray are virtually instant<\/strong>. The good news comes at lower refresh rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On other models with similar panels, lowering refresh rate caused input lag to rise enormously. It rises here too, as expected, but <strong>not nearly as dramatically<\/strong>. That is not exclusive to this model, but inherent to the technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Text definition and work use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most discussed topics whenever an OLED monitor appears is text clarity. There is good news here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This model uses a <strong>revised subpixel structure<\/strong> from the new generation of QD-OLEDs. It is not eye-catching on paper, but is extremely welcome day to day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Full DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is the headline feature. They have plenty of volume but lack a great deal of bass. They are neither the worst nor the best speakers you will find in a monitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They work in a pinch, for occasional console use, or to avoid always relying on headphones or external speakers, but little more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Price and final assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AORUS FO32U2P is a monitor that is <strong>expensive<\/strong>, like practically any <strong>4K 240 Hz QD-OLED<\/strong>. Pricing is around <strong>750 euros<\/strong>, although it can vary by retailer and timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also a very similar version without the \u201cP,\u201d but <strong>without full DisplayPort 2.1 or Daisy Chain<\/strong>, usually somewhat cheaper. That matters because it may be the smart buy if those extras do not matter to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best thing about the FO32U2P is that it is an <strong>extremely well-equipped monitor<\/strong>. Not only because of the panel, already very good itself, but because of everything around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Spectacular image<\/strong> thanks to glossy QD-OLED<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4K and 240 Hz<\/strong> at 32 inches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Top-tier connectivity<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Excellent ergonomics<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>KVM, USB-C, and Daisy Chain<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20<\/strong> as a real differentiator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What would I ask for to round it out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dolby Vision support<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>slightly more refined factory calibration<\/strong> in some areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not poorly calibrated, far from it. Simply, at this price, a little more factory attention could be expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, it seems one of the most interesting premium-segment offerings to me.
